Ege University Advanced Smart Biomaterials and Energy Research Group (ASBERG) was formed in 2014 as a focus for a range of inter-related activities in biomass conversion and biobased products.

ASBERG is conducting innovative research and modeling in biomass resource assessment, characterization, pretreatment, processing and conversion of various biomass feedstocks into densified fuels, energy, power, material and bio-based products.

The objective of ASBERG is to apply biomaterials science as an interdisciplinary endeavor to help provide the world with sufficient fuels, chemicals and materials from renewable and sustainable resources to meet tomorrow needs. Other mission is train and educate young researchers for the emerging bio circular
economy.
