Yasemin Özliman Farımaz
I graduated from Bursa Uludağ University, Department of Environmental Engineering with a Bachelor’s Degree. I studied a thesis on wastewater treatment and artificial neural networks. Then I got my master’s degree in Istanbul Technical University, Energy Institute, Energy Science and Technology Department. This is how my backgroung in the field of energy began to form. I prepared a thesis study with the name “For The Year of 2015 Monthly Electricity Energy Demand Forecast For Turkey”. Afterthat I pursued second master’s degree in İstanbul Technical University, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Biotechnology Department and I complated a thesis study named of "Comparison of Long Term and Cycle Data Calibration For Modeling of Sequencing Batch Reactor".
At the same time with both master programs, I had been working of quality management experience in engineering consulting firms and than university for 12 years. I was responsible for Quality Processes, in particular, I carried out studies in the field of ISO 9001 & 14001 & 50001 and international accreditation.
And now I am working as a faculty lecturer at Afyonkarahisar Health Sciences University and currently conducting a quality management processes for YÖKAK (Turkish Higher Education Quality Council). In addition, I am working a "Climate Friendly Campus" project for the university where I work.
I started the Energy Technology PhD program in Ege University Solar Energy Institute in 2023. I am very proud to be a part of the ASBERG working group and I hope to contribute more and more to this group with each passing day.

Betül Aksoy
I graduated from Ege University, Department of Mechanical Engineering with a Bachelor’s Degree. During my undergraduate studies, I focused on the mechanical and material aspects of energy systems and completed my thesis on the delamination of photovoltaic panels. During this period, I also gained experience as an intern researcher in a TÜBİTAK-supported project regarding the recycling of crystalline silicon PV panels.
Then I pursued my Master’s degree at Ege University, Solar Energy Institute. I conducted a thesis study titled 'Investigation of the Cooling Effect of Phase Change Material Integrated Photovoltaic Systems'.
In addition to my academic studies, I completed an international internship at Monolithos Catalysts & Recycling in Athens, Greece, through the EIT RawMaterials RIS program. During this period, I worked on the valorization of critical raw materials recovered from end-of-life catalytic converters and gained expertise in hydrometallurgical recovery processes. I have also strengthened my professional profile with ISO 9001, 14001, 19011, and 45001 certifications.
In February 2026, I started the Energy Technology PhD program at Ege University, Solar Energy Institute. My current research focuses on the upcycling of recovered crystalline silicon from end-of-life PV panels for energy storage systems.
