ABSTRACT
In the field of energy, specific models and foresight methodologies have been developed. These models and methodologies help to evaluate the potential impact of energy policies related to sustainable development and technological progress. The aim of this study was to explore how the future of technological developments in solar power technologies will be shaped in Turkey. At the same time, this foresight study was to provide decision support for companies and research institutes in defining their R&D priorities, and to assist governmental decisionmakers in making effective policies. The article discusses not only the expert sights on solar energy technologies but also all bibliometrical approaches. Bibliometric study was conducted in order to investigate the literature, one-to-one meetings were organized with the experts yielding the data for SWOT analysis and finally the two-rounded Delphi questionnaire was designed for eliciting the solar power technologies in Turkey projected for the year 2050. This study is the result of a collaborative initiative that has brought together more than 104 experts from organizations to identify and demonstrate technologies for Turkey’s solar energy future. Vision of Turkish solar energies have been identified by the experts and studies required to reach these objectives have been argued. The results showed that the solar future will bring economic prosperities with the support of appropriate policies. Technology roadmap has been developed to identify technology and research themes for solar power.
